In the early light a wonderful sight as a Tawny Owl flapped and then floated just above me.  The pale underside showing the rounded wings and short body - just fantastic.  I don’t often see this bird despite hearing them most nights.

A little later as a bright pink strip glowed just above the watery horizon, the edge catching the Isle of Wight, a Peregrine Falcon glided into view, landing on the cliff outcrop below me.  Here it undertook a little feather realignment before beginning its seaward gaze.

Another bird of prey was spotted as it whizzed, hugging the edge of the scrub line in the gully, the dark brown coloured back of the Sparrowhawk, its wings looking long and wide as it flew, before disappearing suddenly into the taller trees.

Above the rough grassland where the Hereford Cattle were munching, hovered a Kestrel, more delicate than the others, a bit of a flapping hover, then gliding to gaze down at another area – hopefully he will catch something for his breakfast.

By the cliff edge of the coast path 2 Roe Deer spotted, they started and bounded so elegantly across the tufts of grass, then over the fence.  As they continued up the hill, against the dry-stone wall they were well camouflaged except for the white tuft and when they jumped high!

An orange coloured Fox was standing on the Ivy covered wall, a pale white sock and large white brush a the end of its tail, quite magnificent.

Once more the growling and gargling sound of Guillemots was wafting up from the water and the ledges, well over 100 packed on to the main area that can be seen.

On the water at least 12 Razorbills could be seen amongst the scattering of auks, some of these now pairing up as can be seen by the regular bill tapping.

A Herring Gull was gliding above, only to be harassed and chased by a Great Black-backed Gull – as they came together the difference in size was very obvious.
