I start my morning walk heading past the walling centre where I’m welcomed by a singing Robin. A little further on I spot a Goldcrest popping about the Blackthorn to the right of me. While I watch the tiny bird through my binoculars the Robin, I had seen earlier pops back in to view obviously wanting to be the star of the show.
I slip and slide my way down the hill popping briefly in the goat plot to check on yesterdays work party’s fire. From this vantage point I watch a couple of Herring Gulls soar past. I head to Tilly Whim I look out towards the Guillemot cave. The sound of the birds floats up from down below. The cave seems as overcrowded as ever with the usual pushing and shoving. Six individuals sit on a rock protruding from the water at the bottom a cliff.
I head up past the light house where a flock of Feral Dove explode from cliff before circling a few times above me and then disappear. A Shag fly’s past closes the water heading towards the castle.
As I get closer to the light house two Rock Pipits spook and fly to the shelter of a Tamarisk. The Tamarisk then seems to come alive with the chatter of Jackdaws just out of sight.
The sun blinds me as I walk back through the top of the light house field passing the cows who are happily munching on some grass. As I check the rain metre, I spot a couple of Great Tits happily hoping around some blackthorn near the natura garden.
