Down at the cliffs where the stars of the show were a pair of Peregrine Falcons.  These two falcons were tearing through the air, wheeling and diving as they went, the shape of their wings changing from narrow and pointed to wider as they moved.  The smaller of the two a more slate grey colour compared with the larger browner bird. These  two birds calling to each other as they flew, sounding almost like a soft Herring Gull cry.

Also moving at speed around the cliffs was a Fulmar, moving up and down and in and out as it traversed along, a wonderful sight, especially when it rose to my eye-line allowing a great view of its black feathering around its eyes.

On the water just a single Shag, the head crest waving in the westerly wind.  None of the usual Razorbills or Guillemots to be seen either on the water of the ledge today.

Taking flight from the area around the bottom of the gully was a Rock Pipit, the piping call easily heard above the gentle lapping of the waves.

Inland on the downs, a Skylark emerged from amongst the tufts of Tor Grass to flutter high into the sky where it proceeded to sing a beautiful song, repeating phrases as it continued on and on.

Below on the bright yellow Gorse bush, perched between the coconut smelling flowers was a Stonechat, orange chest and black head showing well.

The ground coming alive with the grass now beginning to grow thickly and the Cowslips starting to pop up all around both the downland and the meadows, just a few at present, but likely to be many, many more in the coming few weeks.

Alongside a stone stile on the farmland is a brightly coloured Herb Robert, much pinker than as usual, while the white flowers of Danish Scurvy Grass carpet small pockets of the cliffs and patches of Whitlow Grass are scattered across the short downland turf.
