A wonderful early windy morning out on the Park, the westerly wind constantly blowing at over 30mph.
From amongst the middle of a large patch of Old Man’s Beard came the calling of a Wren, the blast of song from this tiny bird heard loudly above the wind.
Along one of the many hedgerows full of Hawthorn and Blackthorn, a small flock of Redwings, the pale eye-stripes showing as they took off, the red underwing barely showing in the dull light.
In the midst of the copse three Grey Squirrels were chasing about the trunks of the Holm Oaks and Black Pines, the chattering of these mammals as they leapt from branch to branch making life more interesting in the woods, where little else was spotted this morning!
Down to the cliffs to watch the sea, a fantastic sight as the grey water churned and turned providing a mass of white froth. The water smashing over the cliffs at Tilly Whim, the spray reaching over the top of the cliffs on occasions.
From nearby the high pitched calling of a Rock Pipit, another spotted nearby, and then these almost grey birds both took off and then landed on the short green grass still calling.
At sea a glorious Gannet skimmed along above the waves, the long white wings showing as it banked towards land, the black tips contrasting fantastically.
Also spotted was a Great Black-backed Gull whose black wings are edged by white, and a smaller Herring Gull and even smaller Black-headed Gull.
In the shelter of the gully a Bullfinch squeaked, the white rump catching the eye as it flitted and a glimpse of the pink breast noted.
