What a beautiful morning, after yesterday’s wild ever-changing weather it’s a pleasant surprise. Heading straight down the timeline where, Long Tailed Tits flit amongst the branches of a Holm Oak above my head. Their soft chattering almost drowned out by nearby, Great Tits and Chiffchaff.
Down in the dell a Hawthorn smothered in white blossom slumps over, with a Honey Suckle using its limbs as a climbing frame. In the Ash Tree above Great Tit jumps around the branches with an insect in its mouth before flying over to the castle swift boxes and disappears inside to feed its young, the light chatter of the chicks calling floats of the box.
On caravan terrace Bugle is in flower, the tall stems with leaves parallel to each other, the green almost turning purple as you look up the stem, interspersed with small purple flowers. On the rock face above Hemp Agrimony has just started to flower the bright pink flowers looking almost fluffy.
A lone White Throat calls form the top of a Sycamore stem at Durlston Head before diving into the scrub and out of sight. Over head Swallows and a couple of Swifts zoom past low on the treetops.
Almost immediately after coming round the corner I spot my first raft of Guillemots bobbing about on the calm water. Moving further round more pour out of the cliff ledge and head out to sea. At the observation point Fulmars are displaying beautifully this morning swooping gracefully in and out of the cliffs.
A fishing boat passes slowly, the water splashing on its bow, coupled with the low gerning sound of Guillemots and the call of passing Herring Gulls making everything feel very calm and tranquil.
Sea Thrift flower heads sway gently in the breeze while a Raven circles overhead other perches at the top of the cliff. A Rock Pipit hops around the very tops of the cliffs edge. Heading up the diagonal path a Greenfinch perches atop some scrub shortly joined by a lone Long Tailed Tit, before both disappear.
