I get on with my walk and it starts raining as the first shower passes above. I head towards the Lighthouse road path spotting a Goldfinch, Wren, hear many a Robin and Blue Tit singing away as a Wood Pigeon flies away. Onto the Lighthouse road and passing the bagged up vegetation in the walling centre, a Great Tit sings away as Crows and Humans are heard in the distance. Onwards, a Pheasant can be heard, a Herring Gull flies above me and a Magpie lands on one of the patches of scrub – the scrub species mostly being of European Gorse, Blackthorn and Hawthorn.

I stand at the Gully Bridge, one of my favourite locations within the National Nature Reserve. The first bird heard is a Song Thrush, I spot Chaffinches, Blue Tits, Great Tits, and Robins on the scrub and leafless Sycamore below. While Crows and Magpies are spotted above me.

Walking on, Jackdaws are spotted on the lighthouse, as I pass some Tamarisk towards the cliff edge. Heading left and below the lighthouse, much Sea Beet is seen on the ground. A Stonechat, a Greater Black-backed Gull, Thrift, Golden Samphire and Rock Samphire are seen, as a Fulmar is sighted heading west. It starts to rain again, as it gets heavier a Cormorant is also headed west.

Up on to the Clifftop Trail and passing Tilly Whim Caves, the Guillemots can be seen roosting in their cave. I stop at the viewpoint and see some Guillemots on the water, many a Fulmar elegantly gliding in and out of the cliffs. Other sightings are a Shag, Herring Gulls, Cormorants and Jackdaws. Towards the copse of predominantly Holm Oak, I can hear Robins, Great Tits, Blue Tits and a Song Thrush.

Heading back to the Learning Centre, I take the timeline, here I spot two beautiful Fungi species – The stinky yet marvellous Red-cage Fungus and on a log Turkey Tail. Close by I spot a Grey Squirrel, as well as many a Robin and Wren. Higher up I spot a Blackcap, Long-tail Tit, Great Tit and Magpie, and when looking down again I spot two small birds – so cute and adorable are those little Goldcrests!
