I’m greeted by a sunny sky over the park until I turn towards the learning centre where I see an ominous dark grey cloud approaching on the wind. Though the rain they promises doesn’t come on my walk they do blot out the sun. A large flock of twinkling Goldfinch passes by overhead, bouncing across the skyline. Swamping them in numbers and size a flock of Woodpigeon circle around the air over the Holm Oak tree line.

A flash of multi-coloured plumage zooms by as a Jay crosses the path. The yellowing leaves still clinging on to the branches of an Oak flutter in the breeze as I pass by, while others gently float down to the path below. Below Harts Togue Fern’s shiny leaves caught the little bit of sun poking through the cloud cover. Stinking Iris flowering stems adorned with bright orange berries stand out against the hedge row behind.

Below the caravan terrace bridge, movement in a Sycamore pulls my attention, putting my binoculars up to see a Goldcrest hoping amongst its bare branches. A Great Tit joins the small bird dwarfing it in size. The loud call of Wren can be heard hidden somewhere in the scrub, popping out for just a second, little tail waggling in the air.

Heading through the woodland a Yew tree can be seen with a few bright red berries adorned its dark green foliage covered branches. Further along the path a long can been seen covered in beautiful display of Turkey Tail Fungus fanning out from the log, showing off perfectly how it got its name.

Looking out over the light house field listening to the singsong call of Robin coming from somewhere in the scrub. A large murder of Carrion Crows ducks and dives in all directions above the gully, a Raven soars through the group showing off cow much bigger they are compared to their corvid cousins.
