It’s an overcast morning, a sheer change from 24 hours ago! I start from the bird hide, where I find a black bin used for bird seed all over the floor – possibly caused by a cheeky Badger. Looking through the window I spot at least 4x Goldfinches, a Wood Pigeon, Robins, and sounds of a Crow.
Walking on and into Field 34, a Wren is spotted, whilst I eat a sweet blackberry from a Bramble bush, Robins call away, as well as a Chaffinch, Goldfinches are spotted above me as a Meadow Brown passes by. Plenty of Ragwort is spotted in this field, as well as Wild Parsnip, Brown Knapweed, Wild Carrot, Red Bartsia, Birds-foot Trefoil, and a large Field Maple tree just before the gate leading into Boys Brigade Field.
In Boys Brigade field, another Meadow Brown butterfly is spotted whilst fluttering around the Bracken, tall Grasses, Field Scabious, Field Bindweed, Hoary Ragwort, and Blackthorn bushes with plenty of sloes.
As I head towards Large Copse, seen within the Hogweed and Burdock is a Meadow Grasshopper sitting pretty chirping away.
I go through into the Large Copse, where Sycamore, Hawthorn, Black Pine, Ash and an Elm tree are spotted, as well as Ivy and Stinking Iris. The birds heard within the copse were calls of a Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Magpie, Crows, Great Tits, Blue Tits, and a Chaffinch. Going into Taskers Meadow I head west, tall Grasses and some fleabane are spotted to the left of me, whilst to the left Brambles are spotted with sour blackberries, as well as young Elm trees in front of large Holm Oaks.
Into Saxon and South Fields, Woolly Thistle, Restharrow, Rough Hawksbit, Bristly Ox-tongue, and Greater Plantain are Flora spotted, whilst fauna seen are Robins, a Wren and a Buff-tailed Bumblebee.
Just heading back into the Learning Centre, I notice who busy it was with birds chirping away – many a Goldfinch, Chiffchaffs, Robins, Blue Tits and Great Tits. It was rather beautiful.
