I’m running out of ways to say its another beautiful morning here at Durlston, though this isn’t a hard problem to have. The sun is shining with only a light breeze taking the edge of the heat coming off the sun.

I head down long meadow, where I have wonderful views over Old Harry Rocks and Poole and Bournemouth. Pale Flax gently sways in the breeze, the dusty blue flowers adorning the tops of long stems like jewels. Below bright yellow Buttercups have popped up all over the field. The shiny yellow flower glinting in the sun. Every now and then a Red Clover pops up to add a splash of deep purple red colour to the meadow.

An Adonis Blue Butterfly flutters past the bright blue of the upside of the wings making it unmissable. A Painted Lady Butterfly flutters past coming to rest on a Horse Chestnut flower above my head. The candle like flower is just starting to go over. Hawthorn is smothered in white blossom causing its branches to droop into the path.

Heading up the coast path towards the castle, I pass two Blue Tits calling to each other and darting around the branches of a Holm Oak.

The cliffs are full of bird activity this morning, as I approach the glass observation point, I see a Raven perched on a Tamarisk just above the cliffs. Is “cronks” loudly before taking off to patrol the cliff. Below the wat if covered in a large raft of Guillemots, the splashing sound of some preening themselves on the water floating up on the breeze.  A burst of 10 or so take off from the water, tiny wings beating frantically to get them air born.

About 7 Fulmars are displaying lovely this morning, swooping in and out of the cliffs gracefully. As they approach the cliff face, they tuck their wings in quickly kicking there legs out towards the cliff as to not collide with the cliff face, before turning on a dime to perform its loop again.
