Started the walk at the back of the Learning Centre, where one could hear some of the Herefords mooing away, whilst listening out one could see a mass off Wood Pigeons chilling on the grass and benches – until I came along and spooked them! Joining them were 3 Blackbirds whom were also spooked and flew away. As one was walking on the sound of a Robin and Crow could be heard.
I get down to the Lighthouse road tarmacked path and decide to turn right, here a flock of linnets swarm above me, whilst I notice a Kestrel just sitting on top of one of the towers just chilling minding its own business. I took binoculars to the Kestrel, then miraculously a Crow decides it wants to sit there so it try’s to scare the Kestrel away by flying close and warning it away – strangely the Crow won and the Kestrel flew away with the Crow in pursuit of the Kestrel, odd as the Kestrel could easily beat the Crow. To the left on top of a Holm Oak there is another Crow perched on top, and as I stop looking into my ‘binos’ I notice an odd, coloured bird that was corvid like, it was fast for me to identify properly but I believe it could have been a Jay. As one continues to look out, a fishing boat is floating along the water, Feral Pigeons swoop nearer the cliffs and sounds of Goldfinches and Magpies can be heard.
Walking off the tarmacked path and onto a grassy path with patches of scrub such as Gorse, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Nettles and various long grasses, I see a Dunnock fly above me, a Wren is heard, sound of a Donkey from outside our site can be heard screeching, a ghost like Aircraft Carrier can be seen way out to sea amongst the misty fog, and a Bumblebee species passed behind me – “In November? I thought!”
I go into the next field; I spot a Meadow Pipet and a Bullfinch as well as a Raven. In Saxon field another Kestrel is perched on a leafless tree that I couldn’t identify from a distance, a Jackdaw is heard. I then hurry back as have got to do the diary, but first I check the Herefords, now moved to South Field, here I check the electric fence by the copse on the north side of the field – the bottom wire was broken so I had to turn off the electricity to fix the slight problem – Now this is fixed and should not be a problem.
