Last night on the way home I found a gate on the drove open, the running passing through said it was not me. Whoever you please close our gates. This could have led to Hereford Cattle escaping.

Passing Langton House, the musky scent of a Fox was noticed, House Martins observed and ripe Blackberries in the hedgerow were resisted. At Durlston a Yellow Hammer was heard on the coastal ridge. A tickling wind created light ripples upon a calm sea. Gatekeepers were the morning’s dominate butterfly. By the path were Wild Thyme, Haws, Sloes, Agrimony flowers and Garden Snail shell remnants beside Limestone exposures suggested Song Thrush activity. Through optics I looked like as if a Peregrine were perch on the cliff edge just west of Anvil Point.

Knapweed and Agrimony add to the colour along side the path. Looking out over the neighbours’ fields I spot two Roe Deer’s grazing in their field. There was a clear contrast between the grazed and un-grazed coastal downland. Cattle tracks had penetrated the scrub in quarr hollows. Lady’s Bedstraw, Rest Harrow and Yarrow bloomed despite grazing. Herb Robert bloom beside an exposed Purbeck Limestone pile in a hollow. Field Scabious, Greater Knapweed had escaped cattle grazing. Meanwhile, a Robin tutted out of site. As a Dwarf Thistle flower was avoided a Greenfinch call was heard. A Common Blue and latter one Marbled White and few Meadow Browns were to be seen. One Teasel head displayed two rings of petals. Four, no eight, finally twelve Jackdaws emerged from near the Lighthouse to fly inland. Black Bryony was loaded with fruits and hung vine-like from it hosts.

A Shag flew east off the gully mouth, whilst a large Spider hid within the “spout” of its funnel web. In only noticed the web, amongst Gorse, due to the water droplets it held. Two Goldfinches paused upon the overhead wires whilst two Magpie explored the roadside.
