The day started with a most bizarre partial power failure. However, outside was good! On the way to the castle the flowers of Green Alkanet, Three Cornered Leek and Garlic Mustard were passed. Upon caravan terrace Primroses bloomed with a scattering of Hairy Violet. Within the Dell both Dock and Mare Tail had marched in. Amongst the undercliff Sycamore was in leaf and at Durlston Head, Wayfaring tree flowered. Jackdaws moved quietly about the castle whilst unseen Herring Gulls mewed beyond the coastal woodland.
It was a delight to see both Thrift (Sea Carnation) and Sea Campion bringing colour to the cliff face. A solo Magpie explored around the Globe whilst there we large numbers of Guillemots and Razorbills scattered upon the sea. A trio of Fulmars were in flight, whilst a quiet Raven was to the west of the observation point on the cliff edge. I was to find two remains of Guillemot eggs that had been taken by a Raven. One was on the coast path, the other upon the short turf just below the measured mile marker. Upon the mile marker base were three pellets, one contained fur, possible that of a Kestrel another seed kernels.
In the distant a Roe Deer was seen upon the coastal ridge. Chalk Milk-wort in flower was found upon bare soil between the measured mile markers. A pair of Linnets explorer the downland slope whilst a Song Thrush performed near the walling centre.
