You know when you wake up and instantly feel super grumpy and like the day is already tainted to be rubbish? That is how I felt this morning, the answer was to head straight for the woods. Apart from the irritating high pitched squark of a small Herring Gull on route, as soon as I got to the woods I felt an instant easy of calm.

Through the gate I was greeted with the gentle coo of a Wood Pigeon, which became a constant as I wondered through the lush shades of green. The rustling from above of Sycamore, Ash and London Plain leaves added to the sense of calm. Amongst the vast shades of green speckles of pink, purple and white Hydrangeas added splashes of colour to the mix.

Within an Ash tree Blue Tits moved around and their sound filled the fresh air, adding to this, trickles of leaves, seeds and small twigs fell to the soft ground. A Horse Chestnut was almost empty of its leaves, older ones were turning brown while simultaneously young fresh leaves were also appearing. A trickle of Beach leaves spiralled down to the ground as a Grey Squirrel jumped between the branches.

I stood and admired an Ash tree, feeling its narrow ridges, smooth patches and up to a soft area of moss. As I walked past Long Meadow I was pleased the Fun Fair that appeared there in my dream last night was not present!

Behind the dead hedge I spotted the head of a Roe Deer, frozen and silently watching me. Further along I took a deep breath of the sweet smell of Buddleia, where a White-Tailed Bumble Bee enjoyed its sweetness. Through the car park, Chaffinch, Robin, Blackbird and Carian Crow all enjoyed the quiet. In the wildlife area, Red Starts were the favourite ringed this morning.
