Upon a Field Maple mast hung smaller than those of Sycamore. Stinking Iris flower heads had, in places, converted to swollen pods forming seeds. The bright red/orange fruits gave out a warning not to eat these Lord’s & Ladies seed pods. Nearby were the delicate white flowers of Enchanter Nightshade on the woodland edge. Beside the diagonal path Gorse was full of many seed pods and few flowers. Instead Wild Madder decorated some Gorse with its own flowers. I had to remove a thin fallen dead Sycamore stem from the path. Wet Box and Privet drooped in.

Through the measured mile markers, the wind had gained vocal cords. Waves rolled in at an angel to the cliff face. Sea spray reach up towards the Guillemots in their sea cave. At the gully mouth the two blow holes gave occasional spurts. Amongst the froth and foam pieces of seaweed could be seen that had been wrenched from their rocky anchorages. Puddles sat upon Tilly Whim’s wave cut platform. Both Skylark and Stonechat were evidence inland. I saw sea spray drifting up from the coast towards the Hereford Cattle in 6a. Lighthouse Green’s Bee Orchids were past their best. Ants explored the stems of a Woolly Thistle presumably so to milk the Aphids upon it. It was mesmerising watching the longer grass upon the gully side shimmer in the wind like a green sea.

Amongst the shelter of the Purbeck limestone quarried landscape a  Marbled White emerge from a ground layer of Rest Harrow. I believe a  Meadow Browns made a brief appearance as well. “Saxon’s Soggy Sycamore Corner” had a puddle, saw me leaving footprints whilst also transport clay upon my boot soles. Buff Tailed Bumble Bees visited Tufted Vetch in Saxon.  Red & White Clovers were accompanied by Ox Eye Daisies, Horseshoe Vetch, Agrimony, Self-Heal, and Quaking Oat Grass.

Whilst the wind rustled the Holm Oak leaves a far stretching Ash branch bouncing in the wind at the Small Copse. A quick peep round the south east corner of the Copse delivered the sight of a Speckled Wood. It was here that a Swallow flew past. Leaves of a Burdock had been mostly eaten back to the veins by caterpillars. Back near the Centre a Bullfinch was spotted calling from the edge of the garden.
