Passing the sea chart, I saw a near one metre tall flower spike of Greater Mullein. Further, along the cliff tops Agrimony appeared resembling a miniature version of the former! Of course, the Mullein only would have large felt like basal rosette of leaves.

Of the cliff tops were small group of Guillemots and Razorbills upon the sea. I saw at least a pair of Razorbills with a pair of Guillemots. There was the clumsy flight of take-off from the water’s surface whilst other birds gargling and preened. Jackdaws and Feral Doves populated the cliff face with a Greater Black Backed Gull at its familiar mid cliff perch. It was a Shag that disappeared to the west. Inland beside the path hung catkins on Tamarisk. There was much Lady’s Bedstraw and I believed it was Small Skippers by the coast path. Marbled Whites flew amongst the domed umbel flower heads of Wild Carrot. Both Ragwort and Bristly Ox Tongue flowered whilst near Tilly Whim the orange of Golden Samphire was just showing. Two Bee Orchid stem still stood with flowers nearby. It was hear that the Skylark song became apparent.

Amongst the gully mouth Thrift, Rest Harrow had appeared. I walked upslope through Between the measured mile markers one Rabbit re-grazed a short area of grass. Whilst this morning was dominated by a good score of Marbled Whites both Gatekeepers and Meadow Browns appeared in small numbers. A pair of competing male Stonechats vocalised in the gully. Meanwhile, amongst the wealth of tree and scrub leaves appeared occasional flowers of Elder, Privet and Honeysuckle. Sycamore masts were evident as well.

At the gully rock exposure determined Privet and Blackthorn protruded out. Beside the road chestnut sized Apples had developed. Both Pyramidal Orchid and Field Scabious flowered upon the downland. Nearby looking like miniature sea mines, being spiky balls upon a stalk, was the seed balls of Chervil.
