What a beautiful morning! I soon realised that two jumpers were completely unnecessary, one still being wet from yesterday’s downpour. All around Swifts, Swallows, Sparrows, Wood Pigeon, Blackbird, Dunnock and Robin all called and sang happily from the nearby trees as I entered the Country Park. As I walked past a Sycamore tree it was alive with the hum of Bees and looking further up a plane created white lines across the sky, I wonder where it is going?
A couple of Chaffinch sang loudly from an Ash tree and the joyful sound of a Robin was heard from a Buddleia, while a Whitethroat made its scratchy sound from the top of an Elder tree. Sparrows darted around a Hawthorn, now in full blossom, their mouths full of flies as they returned to nearby nests.
A clattering of Jackdaws were speckled across a meadow, filled with Bulbous Buttercups, Red Clover and Pale Flax, the bright colours making the Jackdaws stand out even more. The sea is a vibrant blue, with a crystal-clear horizon, joining a dusky white sky and leading to a vast bright blue sky.
I searched around of Common Spotted Orchids, with none to be found yet, also Ox-eye Daisies of which I found a handful. I knew it was going to be a good day for butterflies and they didn’t disappoint even early on. Speckled Wood, Common Blue, Small Blue, Adonis Blue, Green Winged, Meadow Brown, Wall Brown and Dingy Skipper all seen this morning.
A quick check on the Herefords which were all happy in the sunshine, as Skylarks sang above and a Song Thrush was heard from within the scrub.
