A cold, grey morning, however the winter gloom enlivened by the brilliant wing feathers of a Jay soaring up the entrance road ahead of me – his plumage the colour of the sky on a June day!

Down on the cliffs signs that the winter will not last forever, as Fulmars soar, prospecting for nest sites along the clifftop, while the ledges are crowded with Guillemots, with many more on the water below, including some still in the ‘winter’ plumage.

A few Razorbills, much blacker, mixed into the ‘bazaar’, with Herring Gull or Great Black-Backed Gull overhead.

Out at sea, a Gannet passing by, along with a line of Scoter out in the distance! Around the scrub and hedgerows, the bright colours of Bullfinches and Chaffinches catch the eye, with Goldfinch, Long Tailed Tit, Goldcrest and a Firecrest also seen.
