At the car park edges Wild Rose and Dogwood were in flower. The latter had flower head clusters consisting of many four petalled white cross flowers. A Large Leaved Lime had pairs of linear bracts associated with its flowers due to open.

From Rest & Admire viewpoint Old Harry was seen whilst the urban coast was obscured in the mist. A good a score of unidentified Gulls sat upon the sea at the shore within Durlston Bay. A pot fisherman rowed his boat in the bay. One Stinking Iris flower was in bloom beside the wooded coast path.

From the Observation Point a Great Black Back Gull sat half-way down the cliff face. On the coast path nearby some Three-Cornered Leek bloomed healthily whist those at the castle had gone over. Below the Dolphin Watch Hut at least fifty Guillemots rafted upon the water. Amongst them were a trio of Razorbills with additional pair perched high on the cliff near the camera cable run. On the vertical cliff both Thrift and Sea Campion grew out of the rock face nearby. At least two Fulmar were on the wing with one travelling low over the sea as far as Tilly Whim. A quarter of Great Black-backed Gull flew west.

At the Gully Mouth both Kidney Vetch and Thrift still provided a carpet of flowers.  Offshore a Shag headed west whilst inland below the Lighthouse a male Stonechat chatted. Overhead a Kestrel passed. My detour to below the Tamarisk clump at Anvil Point was rewarded initially by a Peregrine Falcon cliffside fly past at eye level. However, in the same spot I soon saw a Peregrine Falcon carrying what looked to be a Rock Dove in its talons. The predator disappeared out of sight down the cliff face with its prey. A third Peregrine viewing nearby witnessed head west along the coast where St. Alban’s Head was visible in the distance.

Upon Lighthouse Green the Wild Gladioli showed plum coloured flowers. I was delighted to find amongst stony ground several Early English Gentian plants which hid their flowers due to the lack of sunlight. A pair of foraging Meadow Pipits explored the Green and a Pied Wagtail appeared. A Red Admiral basked in vague sunlight near Lighthouse Bridge A Goldfinch that perched on the bridge gate was soon joined by a partner which in turn was joined by a Blackcap when they all chose the perch upon scrub. Pears began to form upon a roadside tree.
