Again I entered Durlston ‘neath the trees. Three Cornered leeks are blooming in the scene. Herb Robert’s flowers never fail to please. Beside bright suns of Lesser Celandine.

Advancing to the Car Park clouds loomed grey. Altostratus waited for its moment. The forecast says we’re in for rain today. Durlston needs its share of this component. Robins now spar and tussle for titbits. Wood Pigeons urge them on with flaps and coos. And all around the sing song of Great Tits. Sounds like a walker wearing squeaky shoes.

The road to Durlston Castle’s flower lined. With vivid blue Forget Me Not’s to see. Primroses are another you can find. Grey Squirrels hide above in sheltered Spots.

Along the coast the Hairy Violets lie. Their flowers coloured after their namesake. Jackdaws and Shags lay claim to sea and sky. The Guillemots live over where waves break. At this point the cool rain begins to fall. I seek out shelter in the Dolphin Hut. I listen to recorded seabirds call. The sound post’s ring clear and then they cut.

Ignoring water drops I carry on. With flowers of yellow Gorse at my right side. A Whitethroat sings out its distinctive song. I cannot see the bird, it seeks to hide.

Along the Gulley I then make my way. Past Wild Apple showing its white blooms. The Tor Grass mat is slick with rain today. I hope the moisture brings forth new mushrooms. Fresh shoots of Fleabane push up to the sky. Still far too young to show their yellow flowers. But Early Purple Orchids aren’t so shy. They’re standing tall like green and purple towers. Their Early Spider cousins lie there too. A Spiders abdomen copied with skill. I tread with care as I am passing through. Will you too take such care? I’m sure you will.

This ends my summary, I rest my pen

I hope you like your iambs by the ten!
