After the dreariness and cloud cover of recent days, this morning was a delightful change with blue sky, puffy white, yellow and orange clouds and sun streaming across.
Flitting across the sky were numerous small flocks of Chaffinches, the short call enabling me to find them against the blue, and the white wing patch spotted as they veered away.
Otherwise in the air was a flock of Meadow Pipits who then floated down to disappear amongst the tufts of grass on the fields.
Just a scattering of flowers still to discover, with a Small Scabious providing a splash of pale blue on the ground, Rough Hawkbit and a single Ragwort flower giving yellow spots, while the Gorse is as usual showing off its constant ability to flower throughout the year.
As I walked up the hill towards the top of the downs the sun was suddenly blinding, it too creeping over the top of the rise, but from the other direction.
In the bushes Blackbirds were clucking, Dunnocks clicking and a Stonechat was chatting, while the quick flash of dull red from the underside of bird drew my attention to a Redwing.

One of the older female Herefords was grazing on the Tor Grass while a Magpie perched on her rump, on another cow a Jackdaw took advantage of the raised viewpoint.
A Grey Heron was spotted flying overhead, the neck pulled in like a U-bend, very different to the 2 Brent Geese seen yesterday, their necks stretched out in front.
Last night a few stars appeared through the showers and with them a Tawny Owl was hooting and a Fox trotted across the path.
