Slightly (very slightly) cooler this morning but with more cloud cover. Across the meadows the view is mostly brown with splashes of purples, yellow and white plus the odd patch of green.
Crested Dog’s Tail, Cocksfoot, Meadow Barley, Quaking Grass, Tall Fescue, Rye Grass and Tor Grass all dried and brown and gently waving in the air.
Wild Carrot is abundant across the fields, the dome many flowered head, often with a dark pink centre showing well alongside the deep purple of the Greater Knapweed and the greeny-yellow of Wild Parsnip.
Seen on many of these flowers are the orange, with dark tipped abdomens, Soldier Beetles often 4 or 5 on each of the larger flower heads.
High overhead the song of a Skylark, while fluttering above the grasses were 3 more Skylarks.
The Field Maple tree was being used as a chasing ground by a family of Long-tailed Tits, the youngsters browner then their pink parents hanging and flittering and chittering loudly as they moved.
In the same area were families of Great Tits, Blue Tits, Common Whitethroat, Chiffchaffs and Chaffinches.
A check of the clifftops but today no Guillemots and Razorbills to be seen or heard, they may have gone for the season or a few might return over the next few days before leaving for good.
On the top of the Mile Marker a Kestrel surveyed the area, on the ground a group of Carrion Crows were chuckling to each other as they dug in the ground for a morsel.
Everywhere the sound of insects, with Meadow, Field and Common Green Grasshopper, the buzz of Honey Bees, White Tailed Bumble Bees and the flutter of the wings of Silver–Y moths.
Clambering across the top of a pile of Cow dung was a huge Dor Beetle, while nearby a Greater Bloody-nosed Beetle and the bright green almost round Tortoise Beetle.
