A musical start to my walk today
With a Song Thrush singing by St Mary’s Church
Then uphill on to the woodland way
Where Robins and Blackbirds love to perch
Great Tits and Blue Tits also abound
Nestled in hedgerows are many a bird
Large Copse is also alive with sound
Hen Pheasants and Chaffinches make themselves heard
Then on to the meadows with the wind in my face
Past trees wearing Oakmoss to keep out the chills
Cotoneaster is growing in a sheltered place
Whilst the wind is a’howling at the top of the hills
I head down to the cliffs and along the coastline
Where Guillemots and Razorbills make their summer home
Happy couples on the day of Saint Valentine
Love blooms on the ledge above the foam
Fulmars and Shags are also on the wing
And beside the Castle, a host of Daffodils
No matter what the weather will bring
A trip up to Durlston always fulfils
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone and ladies, there’s plenty more poetry where that came from.
Call me ;)
