Bursting from the car park scrub was a cheerful chattering flock of some ten Goldfinches which flew overhead. Heard but not seen again was the Green Woodpecker from the cover of reservoir copse. Whilst a Woodpigeon called, Magpies, Blue Tits, Robins and Blackbirds went about their business on the scrub and grass verge margins.

On the wood edged stretch of Lighthouse Road Blue Tits and Great Tits explored the Blackthorn, possibly feeding on the spore bodies of the bushy lichen. Again the Tits were observed on the castle seed feeder where a Dunnock briefly joined them as inevitably did a Grey Squirrel.

Both Laurel and Bay had fresh tight round buds formed whilst the Field Maple buds also pushed through. At caravan terrace there was a steady trickling waterfall down the rock face (hidden behind thorny vegetation) accompanied by constant dripping from its varied striations. Surface water had was leaves down the coast path and made woodchip soggy and thick on the woodland path!

I observed a thigh thick Sycamore stem which revealed its bone like skeletal stem removed of bark and tissue. However, like hedge laying as long of a third of the bark remained the branch lived on.

Today one only heard the cry of a Guillemot as well as the lapping waves on the cliff base. Upon the post and rail fencing at the bottom end of the goat plot I found a Raven perched alongside a score of Jackdaws, although not for long! Our Raven flew towards a lighthouse hidden in the mist but perched on the coastal drystone wall calling for its mate. Later I saw another solitary Raven up slope preening under its wings and breast feathers whilst perched upon a living, but greatly cattle modified Hawthorn bush! Whilst I saw two Hereford Cattle in the goat plot the swaying and snapping of branches suggest another in there somewhere.

Between the mile markers, a bird pellet I found on the grass contained fine feathers and small beetle wing cases which I suspect was the product of a Kestrel.
