A beautiful sunny morning with bright sunrise over the water looking out from the woodland coast path, the sun shining brightly off the still water. Heading down to the dell where, Chiffchaff can be heard and seen flitting amongst the branches of a Buddleia. A Robin pecks around the recently stimmed cuttings on the ground joined by a couple of Blackbirds.
On the Caravan Terrace two Wall Brown Butterfly’s fit around the stone face, coming to land and then bask on the wall. On the top of the rock face two Hemp Agrimony can be seen still in flower, there bright pink flowers poking out amongst the scrub. Rock Spray Cotoneaster, spread across the rock face, demonstrating why it gets its name nicely, is covered in bright red berries, adding some colour to the grey rock face.
Looking out over the glass observation point an unusually rock outcropping catches my attention, looking through binoculars, it turns out to be a Peregrine Falcon with its back to me. The dark grey mottles back blending in with the surrounding rock. Further round the cliff path to where the Peregrine can be seen from its front side, its checked stripped stomach making it unmissable form this angle.
Tamarisk all along the coast path are full of Chiffchaff flitting amongst there branches, there repetitive “chiff chaff chiff chaff” call making them easy to identify. Great Tits and a lone Wren can be heard calling, the small Wren making a brief appearance before disappearing back into the scrub.
Looking over the light house field, a lone Swallow passes by overhead heading low over the scrub further into the field.
