A very autumnal feeling morning this morning, with a fine drizzle coming down across the park, though still rather warm at 18.7 degrees. Walking down long meadow where some small Wild Carrots can still just about be in seen in flower, the short, stunted flowering stems dotting the edge of the path. The hedge row is full of ripening blackberries and sloe berries. Dog Rose slumps into the path heavy under the wright of bright red plum rose hips, looking shiny with the rainwater on them.
With a swoosh a flock of Feral Dove zoom past overhead, there synchronised arial acrobatics always impressive. The familiar call of Great Tits can be heard from the head rows, accompanied by the singsong of a Robin in a Horse Chestnut. The Horse Chestnuts leaves are starting to turn brown and crispy in preparation for the winter.
Across the road into the meadows, large bales of grass have been gathered along the top edge of the field awaiting collection. Pops of red throughout the surrounding hedgerow show Hawthorn covered in hundreds of tiny shiny red berries.
Through into saxon where there was once a carpet of bright yellow Fleabane, the flowers having now gone over the bright yellow has been replaced with a dull brown. Further into the field Ragwort and Bristly Ox Tongue is clinging to its last remaining yellow flowers. Wild Parsnip while having gone over and turned brown still towers over everything.
Along the edge of the path in oxeye, the pale pink flowers of Rest Harrow can be seen, though starting to look a bit weather beaten. The call of a Raven over head pulls my attention to the bird passing overhead.
Along the top of light house field, where a Stonechat can be seen sat atop a Thistle, before disappearing into some scrub. A Whitethroat hurries past into some scrub its rear end the only thing I spot before it disappears.
