Another glorious morning, sunny and warm yet again. Heading through the top of light house a Clouded Yellow Butterfly zips past heading over the meadow. Its shortly followed by a Meadow Brown and a Gate Keeper. An Ash Tree is full of Goldfinch perched on its branches, there soft twittering filling the still air.
Sitting on the stone bench above the quar, the calls of Carrion Crows pull my attention to four birds chasing and attaching a Kestrel, who is also ducking and diving pursing them. They continue this game of tag for a while the more agile Kestrel able to duck and dive out of the large crow’s way.
Heading further along the top of light house multiple Meadow Pipits peck around the dusty path ahead. They spoke and head to the safety of a nearby scrub patch. The calls of a Stone Chat ring out in still morning, the small bird spotted calling from the top of a Blackthorn. The swoosh of a Swallow draws my attention to two of the small birds swooping past overhead, there long forked tails trailing behind them.
A Chiffchaff land on a Wild Parsnip that has gone to seed ahead of me on the path. Before being replaced with a Grasshopper Warbler hoping its way down the long brown stems. A small butterfly flutters past coming to rest on some grass to reveal it’s a Small Heath.
Heading back through the meadow, the edges of the path are lined with patches of Rest Harrow with Scabious swaying gently in the light breeze. Wild Carrot is going over the large seed’s heads curling in on themselves.
