Another hot and humid day with the temperature reaching 31.3 degrees yesterday. Its already 25.4 this morning so another hot sticky walk it is. Through the car park where the verges are alive with Marbled White Butterfly’s fluttering about. Below Hawksbeard turns its sun greedy flower head to wards the sun, while Common Mallow sways gently in the warm breeze. Agrimony and Self-heal also mingle with the other plants in the verge.
Outside the castle Small White Butterfly’s flit in all directions some coming to land on the Buddleia and showing off their white wings with distinctive black markings. The familiar call of a Chiffchaff can be heard coming from somewhere in the gully but I’m unable to spot the small bird.
Down to the glass observation point where someone reported seeing a Sunfish yesterday and surprised to see the same person down their bird watching already this morning, though no Sunfish. We were also treated to some Bottle Nosed Dolphins passing by yesterday.
Guillemots bob around on the calm water below the glass observation point. A couple of Razorbills sit on the water on the edges of the raft. More Marbled White Butterfly’s accompany me along the coast path as well as some Lulworth Skippers.
Before heading up the diagonal path a Rock Pipit makes an appearance on the coast path. Halfway up the path I spot a Yellow Vetchling in flower along the edge of the path. In the cooler woodland (though only slightly cooler) the familiar chirps of Blue and Great Tits can be heard.
