Starting 20 minutes earlier today to get ahead of the game, as I change into suitable footwear I instantly hear a Chiffchaff, and then Blue Tits, Robins, Great Tits, Wren, and Goldfinches above me, spotted was a couple of Wood Pigeons and a Magpie. After dropping my belongings in the office and realising I left my binoculars in there after locking the office again, I decided to have a quick peak in the bird hide where I can borrow some old binos. Here I spot Great Tits, Blue Tits, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, and then a Magpie decides to swoop in and scare the little garden birds away!

Moving on I decide to head to the castle as there was something I needed to check in there, on the way a Herring Gull, male Blackbird, non-native bluebells (as not droopy enough), Stinking Iris, Nettles, Green Alkanet, Primroses, and Lords and Ladies are all spotted.

Once in and out of the castle, I head down to the Observation Point, there I spot many Fulmars, Jackdaws, a Cormorant, Rock Pigeons, a Herring Gull chilling, and Magpies. However, there is something missing on the English Channel – where are the Guillemots and Razorbills?

Continuing east on the Clifftop path, a couple of Crows are spotted, then I see something bobbing along on the English Channel, at first I think that it is a buoy, then I look again, is it rubbish? No! It’s a Grey Seal poking out, chilling there for about a minute before diving into the sea again presumably to catch some fish. Nearby a Shag can be spotted also fishing on the sea too. However, one thing I notice, is the lack (or non-existent) sighting of Guillemots in their caves, it’s a shame I can’t put them as seen in my diary.

Passing Tamerisk and into Lighthouse Field, the conditions become windier as I am now exposed, through the wind I can just about hear a Yellowhammer with its “a little bit of bread and no cheese” song. Below me Thrift and Rock Samphire are present, a Herring Gull is spotted and a Meadow Pipet heard towards the lighthouse. Past the lighthouse also spotted was native Bluebells (as fairly droopy), as well as a lone Early-Spider Orchid.

I did plenty more walking but running out of space now so will jump to the Quar – here I spotted a Rabbit, Hairy Violet, and many, many more Early-spider Orchids.

Happy Easter Everyone!
