I aimed for the wooded Lighthouse Rd and was delighted to find the two Bullace in blossom. Essentially these are thornless Blackthorn whose fruits can be palatable. A carpet of Moss had spread at the disused bus stop. Soothing seesawing calls were broadcast by a Wood Pigeon. Thanks to the leafless branches, witches’ brooms were visible in a Silver Birch. From an Elm sang a male Great Tit.

“Wot no Celandines” …., no wonder as the wooded play trail was a quagmire, in places, if one strayed of the stepping stones. As a Holm Oak leaf fell, I was reminded yesterday’s butterfly encounters in the sun. A Magpie flew between branch tips. At caravan terrace I was reassured by the sight of yellow flowers of Primroses. Whilst the rock face wept and Robin observed. The tiny white flowers of Bittercress would lead to exploding seed pods spreading their kind. Gorse flowered up above.

A Gannet duo flew west past Durlston Head, meanwhile the bay was quiet. Eyelash like Tamarisk growth intrude into the sea view. Nevertheless, plenty of Guillemot activity was off the Globe. Two Oystercatchers were heard before seen flying east. Some thirty birds were in a loose, linear raft amongst them some eight Razor Bills. Six Fulmar in flight suggested the return of our three breeding pairs. Even Herring Gulls were paired up although huddled into the cliff. One then a second Raven rode updrafts beside the sea cliff. A “cronk” was exchanged.

In the gully Yew, Holly and Ivy added a splash of green. In the wildlife garden some five Palmate Newts were in the pond. Blackthorn, in places, show tiny white buds as well as pruned” sloes. A Hawthorn had pushed out leaf clusters whilst more fresh Honeysuckle & Bramble leaves were evident. A Bloody-nosed Beetle explored the Castle boarders.
