A dull grey overcast morning, but no rain! Even the birds seem happy with the reprieve from the rain as Robins and Great Tits sing the loudest, I’ve heard them all year. As I head through the woodland towards the dell, I can just make out the light twinkling chatter of Goldfinch between the cries of a Great Tit, as they bounce there way across the skyline coming to rest in a Holm Oak.

Down in the dell the array of bird activity continues with a tiny Goldcrest bouncing in and out of the Bramble bank towards the back of the dell. The flash of its “gold crest” drawing my attention each time. Blue Tits flit amongst the branches of a Holm Oak, reaching under the leaves to find tasty morsels. The repetitive trill of a Wren downs out most other birds as it clings to the thin branch of a Buddleia.

On Caravan terrace two Chaffinch peck around in the short turf looking for some breakfast. Water pours over the rock face continuously, with delicate Primrose poking out of the grass below.

The cliffs are full activity as well this morning with Fulmars trying to perform their graceful manoeuvres in and out of the cliffs, but the stronger wind this side of the cliff path causing them some trouble in doing so. A Shag clings on to what seems to be the smallest ledge it could find to rest on. Another swoops into the bottom of the cliffs below, while two more pass by overhead.

Guillemots form two loose rafts on the water, while others come in and out of the cliffs in small groups. The ledge crowded but not over full, with room to breath for those resting on the ledge.
