A rare sunny morning, with only one grey cloud marking the blue sky. The singsong tune of a Song Thrush accompanies me as I slip and slide my way through the mud to the light house road.

A large flock of Jackdaw burst from the down in the gully, calling as they all take off as one towards the goat plot. A Raven also passes over head dwarfing the smaller Jackdaws below. Great Tits flit amongst the branches of bare Blackthorn and Gorse covered in bright yellow flowers.

Through to the field 6 where the Hereford Cattle are happily grazing. The light twittering of a passing Goldfinch flock floats down. Whilst moving the cows on Monday we were treated to my first Skylarks of the year, and thankfully they are out again today. There loud trilling calling filling the air making spring feel just around the corner.

Through into eight acres where more Skylarks can be seen flying high up into the sky singing. A few zoom along the top of the grass as I disturb them.

A Dunnock perches atop a newly repaired drystone wall, small round body all puffed out before disappearing into the scrub. I keep an eye out for the Roe Deer that like to hang out in fields 1 /2, though they aren’t here this morning.

Slipping and sliding my way back to the Learning Centre I’m treated to a Kestrel hovering over the gully, as it struggles against the wind.
