A bright sunny morning! Heading out along Long Meadow with clear views over Old Harry and Poole further out. Poking out over the top of the hedge line Japanese Spindles can be seen covered is pale pink buds. Blue Tits flit amongst the branches of a Blackthorn smothered in lichen.
Heading along the woodland woodchip path, a log covered in Turkey Tail Fungus lines the path, the smothering of the stripped fungus interrupted by Witches Butter Fungus, look like congealed custard splattered on the log.
Down at the bottom of the woodland Daffodils are just starting to emerge the long leaves piercing through the soil. Snowdrops are just starting to open in the same area. Purple and white Crocus are starting to open under a sycamore tree in the aviary glade. All signs spring isn’t too far away.
Heading up the coast path trying not to be blinded by the bight mornings sun, the Cronk of a Raven breaks through the quiet. The large black bird managing to stay hidden in its perch somewhere atop a Black Pine. Down in the Dell Great Tits flit amongst the branches of a Willow. The repetitive trill of Wren pulls my attention to a nearby Ash, where the little bird hops around the base of the tree. In the top of the Ash Tree, Goldfinch decorate the tops of the branches, gold stripes catching the morning sun. Heading up the hill a small bird catches my attention; a small Gold Crest pops out of the cover of the Ivy.
