The sky for my morning patrol began a delicate pink, but soon changed as the grey blanket of cloud rolled in.

The call of a Blackbird came from the Hawthorn, the piping call wafting through the air, as I peered through binoculars the bright yellow beak easily spotted.

Alongside the path, a Field Maple was still laden with bright yellow leaves and covered in the seed pods, with just a single wing (unlike the Sycamore which has two)

A flock of Goldfinches landed in the Blackthorn, which was also being used by a Robin, both of these birds feeling around the large round blue-purple Sloe berries as they searched for food.

From the rambling ropes of Wild Clematis (also known as Traveller’s Joy) two Blackcaps were seen, first the male popped up, its black cap showing, then the brown capped female followed.

Further along I was delayed by the sight of a flock of Long-tailed Tits, these pink, black and white birds are always fun to watch as they swing on the branches, ‘chitting’ to each other constantly.

Along the cliffs two huge black Ravens glided, the wings spread at the ends into long fingers.   One Raven dropped onto the rocks where a large pile of feathers was left behind by a Peregrine kill, the Raven checked through to discover something edible left behind for breakfast.

Flying past a flock of Gulls comprising of 61 Kittiwakes and 3 Mediterranean Gulls, also some Black-headed Gulls, Herring Gulls and Great Black-backed Gulls.

Skimming low over the water 6 Scoter, while over 300 Razorbills were also passing further out.

Meanwhile, over 150 Guillemots were spotted on the cliff ledge, while 2 Shags stood on the rocks below.
