Cloud cover blots out the sun this morning, it peaks through in the occasional break in the cloud. A cool breeze blows through the park making for pleasant walking temperature. A flock of about 7 Goldfinch burst out of the long grass as I pass by, all heading up to the Ash Tree above them. Heading out through Skipworth two Kestrels circle over a nearby field, high pitch screeching drawing my attention to the birds.

Dry grass dominates the landscape, tall brown blades swaying in the breeze. Along the path the earth cracks open and existing cracks are becoming bigger by the day, as the dry weather continues. Through into Saxon where bright sunshine yellow Fleabane carpets the ground, the bright yellow a stark contrast to the dull brown grass everywhere else.

Dotted in the grass pops of bright pale purple catch my as I pass Field Scabious. Above a female Blackbird stands proud in a Hawthorn laden with bright red berries.

Walking through Johnston more dry grass dominates the landscape with addition of fluffy Hawksbeard seed heads and Greater Knapweed seed heads. A lone Birds-foot Trefoil flowers along the edge of the path, tiny yellow flower peaking out from the longer grass.

Checking the cow’s trough, which they have somehow turned into a water fountain, but hey it’s still working, and they don’t seem to mind. Here I start to notice the abundance of blackberries in the hedgerows, so I snack my way back through the meadows. After a year of battling Brambles to stay where we want them its great of them to then provide something so good.
