Bright blue skies great me this morning after a week off, a pleasant breeze and the perfect walking temperature. Heading through the car park I pass Bristly Oxtongue is full flower, the bright yellow flowers towering over the short grass. Greater Knapweed sways genteelly in the light breeze some of the purple flowers just starting to go over.
Down in the dell the twittering of Great Tits floats up on the breeze joined by the sweet scent of Buddleia. Looking down the bright purple flower fronds spike out from the tall plant in all directions. Bright red Fuchsia flowers standout against the green background further down.
Heading over the bridge to caravan terrace, the rustling of leaves is followed by a Roe Deer bursting out of the hedge and running across and into the woodlands at the far end. Even with this brief sighing of the deer it was nice to see what a wonderful set of antlers the small deer was sporting.
After the fuss of the deer running through a Wren hops up on to a wall to shout, the repetitive loud noise always so impressive to have come from such a small bird. Two Gatekeeper Butterflies chase each other one coming to land on a Hemp-Agrimony flower head.
Down the path to Durlston Head, looking up at the castle turret I spot a Kestrel perched on the corner overlooking the bay. The bird perched like a gargoyle, bright yellow legs with sharp talons on full display as it perches on the corner.
Lots of Chiffchaff can be seen hoping amongst the branches of a Tamarisk tree at the glass observation point. While further along a Rock Pipit hops along the path going form the path to the wall and back just ahead of me, before a runner coming in the other direction scares it off. A Peregrine Falcon soars along the top of the cliff before ducking down lower and out of sight as it approaches the observation point.
