A clear still morning and warming up already. Dog walkers are out trying to beat the heat of the day. Heading through to the meadow Tufted Vetch clambers up surrounding grass and Bramble. The bright purple flowers are alive with Bees and butterflies. Small Skippers flutters from Bramble flower to Tufted Vetch.
The earthy smell of Bracken fills the air as I pass a large patch, Field Bindweed creeps round the bottom of the tall bracken stems.
Red Bartsia lines the path as I pass through south field. Over the white flower heads of Wild Carrot and Red Clover, lots of Six Spotted Burnet Moths buzz above the meadow red spotted wings a blur of red and black. Bright yellow flower heads of Hawksbeard are all turned towards the mornings sun. The droning noise of Grasshoppers and Bush Crickets be heard all around. While above Skylarks sing there harts out.
A large patch of Fleabane is starting to flower. Gate Keeper Butterfly rests atop of a Field Scabious. While Marbled white Butterflies flutters past. The scratchy call of a White Throat can be heard calling from the top of a tree, though muffled by the insect hanging from its beak.
It the rock pit over the wall at the end of oxeye meadow, an Adder basks in the sun, it wont need long to warm up this morning. The bright pink flower of Willow Herb sticks out the top of a large path of Old Mans Beard.
