A humid overcast morning clings to the park this morning as I head towards the Dell. The twittering of Long Tailed Tits pulls my attention to the dropping branches of an Ash Tree overhead. The small bird’s flit around the branches occasionally giving me the opportunity to see their doll like faces. Larger Great Tits join the gathering of twittering birds in the branches overhead.

At the glass observation point only about 50 or so Guillemots can be seen on the calm water below. One Fulmar swoops gracefully along the cliffs edge, while a Raven perches on a ledge towards the top of the path. Soon the Raven takes flight and swoops off along the cliffs edge.

The Guillemot ledge is almost completely empty with only five remaining on the ledge. The last few crowd into a corner as a Raven watches them closely. More try to fly back on to the ledge but are scared off by the Raven.

A carpet of Chalk Milk Wort, Kidney Vetch and Wild Carrot spreads out below the mile marker in the short turf. Rest Harrow grows out of the rocky path below the light house, pale pink flowers contrasting against the dull grey of the path.

The chattering call of a Stonechat pulls my attention to the power line running over the gully, where the light bird stands out along the thin line. Swallows duck and dive in all directions in hot pursuit of breakfast.

Along the edges of the light house road Yellow Vetchling is in full flower, the sunshine yellow flower brightening the morning. A path of bright pink Pyramidal Orchids speckles the dull green patch of grass. A Chiffchaff calls from a Sycamore laden in helicopter like seeds. A bright shiny orange Solider beetle sits atop a pale while Wild Carrot flower.
