A cooler morning than the past few days, with grey cloud hanging in the sky over head. Out to sea blue skies dominate the landscape but the grey cloud hangs over the land ominously.
Hawks Beard flower heads are furled tightly waiting for the sun to rise, some have already gone over fluffy seed heads waiting for a gust of wind to disperse its seeds. Wild Carrot and Red Clover add to the patch work of colour, while pale pink Field Bind Weed weaves its way round other plants.
Along the top of the light house field tall flowering stems of Agrimony covered in lots of yellow flowers sway gently in the breeze. Some are starting to go to seed the green Velcro like balls waiting for something fluffy to walk past.
A patch of off-white Lady’s Bedstraw stands out from the green grass the fluffy flowers looking soft to the touch. Tall Greater Knapweed with purple pompom like flowers on the top of there flowering stem tower over the Lady’s Bedstraw.
Through into field six where there is an abundance of Dog Rose in flower, spikey stems smothered in pale pink flowers. Over head a Skylark sings at the top of its lungs. The sun starts to win over the land, slowly brightening and warming the morning.
In field 3 I follow the trail of cow pats to find our Hereford Cattle all lying down along the top of the ridge line. Some chew the cud while others nap in the morning sun light, they look so relaxed and content I’m almost tempted to join them.
As the sun has appeared so have the butterflies, Meadow Brown Butterfly, dance over the long grass. A Marbled White Butterfly flutters past. A little further along I also spot a Small Blue Butterfly.
