A light breeze makes it cool this sunny morning as I head towards the cliffs. Stopping briefly to admire some Wood Sorrel as I pass by, the pink flowers standing out against the deep green.
A Raven observes its surroundings from the top of a Tamarisk above the glass observation point, as I approach it flies off to find another perch. Below five Fulmars swoop in and out of the cliff face, mottled grey back standing out in the sun. Amongst them juvenile Herring Gulls fly past, occasionally getting in the way of the Fulmars elegant loops.
Two Rock Pipits have an ariel dispute in a whirl of wings and tiny legs. Below on the water a large loose raft of Guillemots bobs about on the still water.
Two pairs of Razorbills rest on two small ledges towards the top of the cliffs. The pair near a pair of Guillemots making their black plumage standout compared to the Guillemots duller brown plumage. Overhead the Raven can be seen flying back and forth along the cliff.
The Guillemot ledge is packed this morning with quite a few squeezing on to the large rock. The Raven swoops in close, scaring most of the birds of the rock, it does a couple more passes scaring more each time. Before flying in and behind the rock. More poor out as it makes it way round the ledge, before emerging empty handed, thankfully.
A Bloody Nosed Beetle plods across the path, while above three Swallows head over the light house. The Swallows are closely followed by two Swifts.
A Stonechat hovers in the air for a few seconds wings frantically beating to try and keep it in place, before it gives up and lands of a patch of Bramble. The repetitive call of a Chiffchaff can be heard coming from a nearby Ash Tree.
