A beautiful sunny morning, already warm enough to not need a jumper. A Small Blue Butterfly flutters past as I enter the woodland at the end of the play trail. The sun light shimmers of on the calm water below as I head down to the caravan terrace. Pale yellow Primrose can still be seen in full bloom, while three Robins sing from opposite end of the terrace. A Speckled Brown Butterfly flutters past coming to land on a Gorse covered in bright yellow flowers. The tiny dark pink flower from an Herb Robert pokes out of some long grass.
Above the cliffs a Raven sits in a patch of pale purple Sea Thrift, waiting for another opportunity to infiltrate the Guillemot ledge. A lone Fulmar swoops in and out of the cliff, its mottled grey back showing lovely in the mornings sun. A Shag perches on a bit of rock jutting out at the bottom the sun makings its feathers appear iridescent.
A loose raft of Guillemots rests on the water the splashing sound of some of them preening themselves filling the air. Further round three Razorbills can be seen resting on some ledges towards the top of the cliff, there dark black plumage and chunky beaks on full display.
Above the slope down to the gully a Wheatear stands tall on the path. A tall slender bird with a black strip through its eyes making it stand out from the neighbouring Rock Pipits.
Up the diagonal path, where its lovely to see some Way Faring Trees in full bloom the tight clusters of small white flowers forming a dome. A Blackcap makes a brief appearance on the top of a path of scrub before flying off and out of sight. Before heading back to the Learning Centre I pass a beautiful Horse Chestnut covered in white flowering candles.
