A fog hangs low over the park this morning, though the sun is trying its best to burn through the cloud. I head towards the long meadow picnic area where a singing Black Birds greets me. Heading into the woodland I pass a Wren signing from the top of an Ash stump, which further down has three lovely round plump King Alfreds Cake Fungus on.
Down in the dell a Holm Oak is alive with Blue Tit and Great Tit activity the odd flash of blue wings giving their location away. a wonderful display of bright yellow flowers adorns caravan terrace this morning with the Primrose in bloom and Gorse is smothered in hundreds of tiny yellow flowers.
Heading down the steep path a long loud black of a foghorn cuts through the peace of the morning. The large ship is completely concealed by the thick fog the only thing giving it presence away the constant rumble of the engine and the foghorn going off every couple of minutes.
Guillemots crash land into the calm water below the cliffs, joining a large, long raft of others extending out. A long Fulmar swoops gracefully in and out of the top of the cliff. A two Ravens take it in turns to patrol the cliffs calling as they pass each other. A Shag fly’s low over the water out to see.
Four Razor Bills leave the ledge they were sat on together landing in the water to make their own separate smaller raft near the Guillemots. the Guillemot ledge is crowded this morning with seven having to sit on the large rock and the sound of birds arguing with each other floating up to the path above.
With some time to spare I duck into the bird hide to watch lots of Great Tits enjoying a new bird feeder we were donated a couple of days ago. There soon joined by two Chaffinch and a Blue Tit, with a Jay flying past as well.
