A strong wind whips its way through the park as I head into the woodland for some shelter. Two Robins have an ariel dispute just ahead of me on the path, before one concedes and the other stands victorious on the end of a picnic bench.
The sound of birds singing is muffled by the wind whipping the trees up into a frenzy. Though I do manage to just about hear then spot a Wren sat atop a wall. Heading to the far end of the woodland I pass a Spindle covered in tightly furled pink flower buds.
Reaching the far end of the woodland I’m greeted with Crocus’s. there tall think closed flower heads promising to open soon and provide a wonderful display. In the surrounding area Lesser Celandine, Lords and Ladies and Daffodils are all starting to emerge from the ground, a sure sign spring is near. Further on I’m treated to a wonderful display of Snow Drops.
Heading back along the coast path and looking over the wall I spot some Primrose in full bloom, the bright yellow flowers standing out over the muted browns and greens surrounding it. Nearby the tiny bright pink flower of Herb Robert catches my eye.
Down to the observation point to check in on the Guillemots, a large raft floats about on the rough water below. A long juvenile Herring Gull struggles to take off, of the water. It repeated crashes back down on the water, looking though my binoculars, it seems it has a piece off food it keeps dropping and chasing back down. After struggling for a few minutes, it finally gets air borne only to be dived upon by another gull.
