Anvil point Lighthouse overlooks a grey unsettled sea. It’s lamp alights every 10 seconds, whereas I can see the Needles Lighthouse 27km away, shines with a continuous beam. Out to sea, the view of an impressive shipping container, HMM Rotterdam, appearing almost too top heavy, a skyscraper on the water.

A good morning for seabirds. At least six Fulmar looping to and from the cliffs, in their continually looping flight. Wings outstretched, steady. Pink flailing feet almost touch the cliffs to land, but bail out every time. The birds swing around likes kites rising on the thermals, and then soaring back down towards the sea.

Much less graceful, are the Guillemots which rapidly beat their wings to attain just a little air. These birds looking much more at ease whilst rafting on the water. Shag, Herring Gull and Black-backed Gull all on the wing.

A burst of feathers, and an explosion Woodpigeon into flight. A female Peregrine Falcon darts through the cloud, yet her talons remain empty. No less determined, she patrols back and forth at speed, but the Woodpigeon remain unscathed, now alerted to the attack.

Changing seasons. Daffodil shoots have sprouted, whilst the first leaves show upon the Elder - a little early perhaps. It’s branches filled the tunes of a Robin, whilst the Chaffinch watches on silently. Four Great Tit chime and churr around the Timeline. They follow one another as they flit between the Elms. A Blackbird warbles nearby.

43.7mm of rain fell over the weekend. The water flows down the pathways, gathering leaves, sticks, and mulch into piles, and cutting deep scars into the stone chip paths. Repairs will be required, but for now I enjoy the ascent from the clifftop decorated with sunny yellow Gorse flowers, with more continuing to bloom into the Spring.
