Another massive change in the weather, with some blue sky spotted!
Taking a walk down to cliff where the sea was churning against the cliffs, seething piles of bubbles where it hit the Portland Limestone rocks.
Landing on one of the outcrops was a Shag, a shiny green colour to its plumage, and a good view of its newly showing crest.
While on the ledges Guillemots galore, the black and white birds bobbing and weaving their heads as they stood on the rock. The faint sound of ‘grrring’ sounding above the wind.
Halfway up, a Peregrine Falcon was perched, the feathers around the outside ruffled in the wind, from the back the silvery grey of his feathers seen. As the head turned to face me, I could see its yellow beak and black face mask – stunning.
Flittering alongside me was a flock of Goldfinches, their gold wing stripes flashing in the light as the sun emerged from above the horizon and out from the cloud.
Landing in amongst the spiky thorns of the Blackthorn was a Greenfinch, however identification took me a few moments as I only saw the pale yellow wing stripe and was trying to make it fit my mind identification guide, only when it turned and the stubby finch like beak was showing, did it click into place!!
Strewn across the path by the cliff were the small ends of Tamarisk, the wind having whipped the fronds from the branches of these Mediterranean trees.
In the shelter of the lea of the hedgerows a collection of our residents species of birds including the Robin and the Wren, both popping up calling frequently from the clambering Old Man’s Beard, while Blackbirds and a Song Thrush perched in among the tangle.
