Heading through the car park a lone white flower head of a Yarrow sticks out into the path, before Fern bulldozes through it somewhat ruining the moment. As she continues to sniff around the Yarrow I watch a flock of Goldfinch flit around the branches of a bare Ash tree. There chattering amongst themselves filling the air.

Past the castle where the volunteers have been hard at work tidying the garden and surrounding area, and down to the glass observation point. About ten Guillemots rest on the still water below. Some appear spotty with a patchwork of white and dark brown plumage, as there winter plumage comes in.

In a sudden rush of wings and splashing a Shag takes flight and heads towards the bottom of the cliffs. While another fly’s out of the cliffs and out to sea. Jackdaws explodes from the top of cliff and head off as one towards the light house.

The gurning noise of Guillemots can be heard coming from the packed ledge with more still pouring in. Rock Pipits bounce there way along the top of the cliff, seemingly indecisive as to where they want to go, as they go back and forth.

Pops of bright yellow Gorse in flower adds some colour to the dull overcast morning. A light drizzle starts as I make my way back up the light house field.

Rustling of leaves below the bridge catches my attention, a cock Pheasant makes its way through the undergrowth doing everything in its power to not be very stealthy. Above the Pheasant a loud tiny Wren calls out from a dead branch.
