A walk to blow the cobwebs out this morning. heading to the woodland to avoid the worst of the wind and rain, though thankfully the rain never came to much more than a light drizzle.  Heading along long meadow I notice the pom pom like flower heads on Ivy starting to form, this marking on of the last flowers to flower for this summer season. The deep purple of outer Dog Wood leaves lines the bottom of the path. A Horse Chestnut is nearly fully covered in brown leaves. The weather and the change in the leaves adds to a very autumnal feeling.

In the woodland the path is being covered with falling leaves more and more by the day. The sound of the rain dripping through the canopy above coupled with the rustling of leaves in the wind adds up to a very soothing sound. At the bottom of the woodland Hydrangeas can be seen still in flower large white flower heads swaying in the breeze.

I head out over the top of the light house field trying not to slip in the wet clay mud. Over head two Swallows dart back and forth over the top scrub. Soon more join the aerial dance ducking and diving in pursuit of breakfast before heading off on there long journey to there over wintering land.

The twittering of Goldfinch can be heard as they pass over the top of my head. A Stonechat comes to land on the top of a patch of Gorse. The birds distinctive bland head and white collar standing out against the green. Further down the hill the flash of green catches my eye as a Chiffchaff takes cover in some scrub. The white flowering head of Yarrow catches the eye, looking rather like Wild Carrot first glance
