I saw white, unripe fruits upon Dogwood before reaching the wooded coast path. Today in the sky over the bay were mostly Martins for a change. A few Holm Oak acorns sat upon a stone seat incorporated into a wall. Tall Wild Bay Willow Herb had begun to obscure the two Dell Bridge full circle portals. Crab Apples clung to erect slender stems. A confusion, certainly for me, of Warblers explored scrub above the terrace rock face. About the castle Valerian, Buddleia, Fuscia and Mexican Daisy added colour and nectar sources. My only insect find today was a female Dark Green Bush Cricket. Wild Madder was found crawling through ground cloaking Ivy on the way to the Observation Point. I received a wind blast at the clifftop. Rock Samphire clung to shear sea cliffs, even a small patch of Sea Campion flowers added colour. Freshwater “rock pools” were upon the wavecut platform. Feral Doves, Jackdaws and a few Shag were active. Upon the sea floated a Greater Black Backed Gull. It was a treat to see one then eventually four Gannets head west. One even sat upon the sea for a brief spell. It is possible they were circling of Anvil Point as at least two returned.

Initially I saw the white with black finish tail feathers and later I saw the black wrap around shades eye band that confirm a Wheatear. A male Stonechat was heard but a female was first seen, later the pale coloured male was noted upon Privet. A Magpie and fellow corvids in the form of five Carrion Crow perched upon overhead wires.

A splash of yellow upon an Ant Hill was thanks to Lady’s Bedstraw. Even a small patch of yellow Gorse flowers was upon a gully side. Actual purplish petals were seen in halos upon two Woolly Thistle heads.

Before heading indoors to write this I popped into the wildlife garden. There cheerily beavering way, out of sight, was Andrew, making great progress with the bird hide.
