Whilst Old Harry was noted, cloud obscured views beyond. Both Robin tutting and the squawks of Magpie indicated unseen birds. Again, but not for much longer, it was a morning of Hirundine activity overhead.  Swallows always dominant and more easily identified, but Martins were noted as my walk progressed. Activity appeared greater over the scrub and grassland patchwork of Saxon’s northern half. Although it was only a glimpse, it was reassuring to see a Rabbit running between the Ant Hills and Tor Grass. Eventually the heard Raven came into sight, only to fly north with a partner parallel by tens of meters.

An insect flew over a flowerless clump of Bramble and Blackthorn. Walking a Deer track, I passed Hops Vetch flowers, and noted Buddleia blooms in a hedgerow. Tall and thin, a Sycamore stem, pocked out of natures tree shelter: Blackberry briar. Seeds set for wind dispersal belonged to Ragwort, Thistle and Travellers Joy. My dew damped boots passed Field Scabious, Greater Knapweed, Red Bartsia and Red Clover.

Through binoculars I checked the new field gate installed yesterday by myself and Jason. Itself with a significant section of rebuilt wall. Together these structures would enable easier grazing separation from the reclaimed landfill and adjacent meadow.

For moment I thought I was looking at a full moon, but no it was the sun, with its glare being filtered by cloud.  From Ox Eye Meadow the red /brown backs of Hereford cattle were seen upon the costal slop with Jackdaws at ground level. I noted a parasol fungus protruding from a dry cow pat, one photographed so to identify later. Upon the quarried slopes I sent up a cock Pheasant into nosy alarmed flight. A deer form was also discovered amongst the herb layer. Silently sat upon the Centre’s roof tiles were a charm of seven Goldfinch.
