It was noted that bales had be removed from the roadside Meadows, only a shame that the contractors never close gates. Although sunny it was chilly in the strong breeze. The leaves and branches of a Horse Chestnut rustled a sway beside the wooded wind corridor alongside Lighthouse Road. With castle woods the breeze had limited effect. Under the canopy, Enchanters Nightshade held seed burrs.

From the diagonal a pair of Jackdaws fled the cliffs. Honeysuckle and Blackberry held fruits whilst Ivy was displaying the pale beginnings of its own berries. One Tamarisk bush held at least five Jackdaw, whilst another had attracted insects to its flowers. Did I detect a slight scent? Hemp Agrimony flowers were fading, whilst only a few remained upon Old Man’s Beard. Below near the coast path one Large White flew. Again, the sea cliffs were empty, as Wild Madder punctuated a Gorse crown beside the coast path.

There were several piles of Blackberry seed filled Fox leavings were spotted, one having a Black Slug repurposing elements of it. From the gully mouth a Roe Deer was noted ascending the gully slope. Note some Golden Samphire flowers remained as a Rock Pipit was heard. I crept along the edge of the ravine before taking a diagonal route up to the Lighthouse rock exposure. The Roe Deer scampered up hill on the opposite gully side. Garden Snail shell pieces indicated a Song Thrush anvil. Harebells still bloomed near the overhead wire above the breeze swept green. Holm Oak had crept into the grassland; however, Quaking Oat Grass’s “lanterns” were not impacted. Before I ascended the coastal slope, I brushed passed Bristly Ox Tonge and Yarrow, then entered the Hereford Cattle grazed area. Ox Eye Daisy and Field Scabious were ungrazed despite being amongst the short turf.  From the coastal ridge I saw that most meadows had the bales removed, although a distinct cluster remained in field 2.

I headed back walking towards the rising sun. More leaf rustle amongst Sycamore in a corner of Saxon. Here tall Burdock held shrunken, withered leaves and “gob stopper” sized seed burrs. Beside the Small Copse, Tufted Vetch leaves spread along the ground amongst a flatten grass host. Speckled Wood and a Gatekeeper were found here too.
