An overcast morning, but no rain! A charm of Goldfinch bob above the top of the scrub as I make my way towards the light house road. The sound of there light chatter filling the air. Under foot its very muddy, amongst the various dog paw prints and shoe prints a few Deer prints can be spotted heading in the direction of the light house.

Entering the light house field, I’m greeted by some of our Herford Cattle, quietly munching away on the grass. Along the road the cows have put a lot of working into making sure it’s covered in their poo. A Raven soars on the breeze low in the gully seemingly patrolling the area for breakfast. A bank of flowering Gorse provides a splash of bright yellow to the landscape, while the light scent of coconuts emits form the hundreds of tiny flowers.

Below the bridge on the seaward side, the familiar sound of Great Tits chattering floats up punctuated by a distressed call of a Black Bird always the drama queen. In the shorter turf of to the side of the light house, Daffodils are just starting to flower, a strange sight for this end of the park, perhaps a garden escape.

As I come over the crest of the hill towards Tilly Whim the frantic beating of tiny wings catches my eye. Guillemots’ pour into the cliffs, the once empty cave almost full to bursting now as still more birds arrive. They head in all directions heading to their allocated perch on the cliff face, the sound of the packed cave floats up to me, birds reclaiming their rightful part of the ledge. On the water loads more of them bob about on the rough water, unfazed by the turbulent water below them.

On the grass tops of the cliffs two Rock Pipits, hunt around for breakfast, while just below them on a rock outcropping a Fulmar takes a well-deserved rest. Flocks of Jackdaws burst the cliff face parodically while three more Fulmars perform their graceful loops in and out the cliffs.
